This site records the Association which has represented former students
at Cardiff since it was a college of the University of Wales over 100 years
ago and now embraces all students of Cardiff University.
The APS has always represented the interests of the communities of graduates,
celebrating the achievements of the former students in literature
and the arts, in
science and architecture, in these and many other avenues of life in which they succeeded.
The APS President is Ms Jane Morris, who succeded Brian J Ford in February 2008. Professor Ford said he was particularly pleased to see Jane elected to office. 'I am just relieved that she found time to take on this role!' he says.
The 'silent auction' that accompanies the annual strawberries and wine party
Central to the activities within the Association is
a continuing strand of social
events, the highlight of which is the Annual Dinner. Guest speakers
have come
from many walks of life. When the University President, Lord Kinnock, was
elected to his new role, one of his first engagements was to speak at the
APS dinner. Similarly, when our Vice-Chancellor Dr David Grant took
on this key
position he spoke at the APS dinner, offering a personal introduction to
his
vision for the future of this rapidly-expanding centre of teaching
and research.
