Sexually transmitted diseases and their mimics

From the Editor's introduction:

Brian J Ford CBiol, MIBiol, FRSH, FLS, chartered biologist and visiting research scientist, and Member of the Court of Governors, University College, Cardiff.

'The largest, and in some ways the most important, section of Sex and Your Health is about the sexually transmissible diseases. The spread of these diseases, particularly herpes and AIDs has produced its own myths, fears and, more recently, hysteria. Brian Ford, a microbiologist, approaches these diseases with the attitude of a compassionate scientist. He describes the symptoms but, much more importantly, explains how they are transmitted and treated. With this knowledge it is easy to see how they can be prevented. Sexually transmitted diseases are one facet of the social infectious diseases of mankind.'
